MacDown is an open source Markdown editor for OS X, released under the MIT License. It is heavily influenced by [Chen Luo](https://twitter.com/chenluois)’s [Mou](http://mouapp.com).
MacDown is an open source Markdown editor for OS X, released under the MIT License. The author stole the idea from [Chen Luo](https://twitter.com/chenluois)’s [Mou](http://mouapp.com) so that people can [make crappy clones](https://twitter.com/remaerd/status/484914820408279040).

Copyright Act doesn't protect ideas but instead their forms of existence. Though unsatisfying, that's what one will face when a developer writes his or her own software. You aren't able to ban anyone from making another Markdown editor.

Fortunate enough it's an open source project this time, free for anyone to contribute. Private companies could've totally get away with this -- Apple just had a punch on Alfred's face in OS X 10.10 -- so why blame on MacDown? With proper attribution, Mou could have co-exist with this MIT licensed project.
